Using everything from switchgrass to agricultural waste, scientists in NC State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences are developing ways to convert biomass into clean-burning alternative fuels. The college plays a key role in the state's Strategic Plan for Biofuels Leadership, with a new demonstration farm in Duplin County and a pilot processing plant under development in Raleigh. We're also committed to delivering science to the public, connecting farmers, business owners and leaders across the state with research-based information that could help make North Carolina a top producer of alternative energy.
