Dr. Nadine Tope Family and Consumer Sciences
Program Development Endowment

Dr. Nadine F. Tope, retired foods and nutrition specialist in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, has created the Dr. Nadine Tope Family and Consumer Sciences Program Development Endowment to support new and innovative programs throughout North Carolina. Dr. Tope’s commitment to Extension and strong rapport with agents across the state resulted in her being saluted in Extension News, January 1980. She is expert at translating research findings into laymen’s language, and also helped expedite cancer testing clinics throughout the state. Her publications and radio and television interviews are still circulated and widely used by Extension agents across the state.

This endowment provides awards to support development of outstanding programs proposed by Family and Consumer Sciences extension faculty, specialists and agents. Criteria and priorities for the program development proposals will be determined each year by the Department Head, Family and Consumer Sciences, and a committee appointed by the Head. Recipients will be selected by the same committee. Dr. Tope serves as a non-voting member of the committee for as long as she desires.

Requests for proposals will be issued throughout the NC State campus and Extension community, and ample time will be provided for submission of proposals. The awards will be promoted extensively by NC State and Extension media relations professionals.
