AGING WITH GUSTO!' CONFERENCE TO OFFER VITAL INFORMATION

Back by popular demand, the "Aging With Gusto!" conference will repeat last year's success when it returns to Carteret County on Oct. 29.

Are you 50 years old or older and want to enhance the quality of your life? Are you in your 30s or 40s and want to plan now to make the most of your retirement years? The "Aging With Gusto!" conference, sponsored by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, will feature experts who can give you the latest information about subjects ranging from how to adapt your home to match your changing needs, diet and exercise, elder care, and estate planning that will protect the financial future of your loved ones.

If you've got $10 and seven hours, you can glean a treasure trove of information that will inspire, motivate and instruct you about positive aging in today's complex world.

On Wed., October 29, from 8:30 a.m until 3:45 p.m. at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City, the Aging with Gusto! conference will offer speakers, workshops and motivational sessions that can help seniors (and-not-quite-seniors) and their families gain important knowledge and skills. Deadline for early registration at the $10 rate is Oct. 15. After Oct. 15, the registration fee will be $15.00.

"Last year's Aging With Gusto' conference was helpful to so many people, we've decided to offer a repeat performance," says Sarah Ann Sasser, family and consumer education agent in the Carteret County center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service. "We're offering 10 workshop to chose from, plus opening, closing and luncheon sessions. The registration fee will cover all this and the luncheon as well. I can't think of a more important value for your dollar."

Sasser says that the "Aging With Gusto!" conference workshops will cover the following topics:

The Opening General Session topic will be, "How to Avoid the Hunter's Instinct," the luncheon General Session will present, "I Think I Can, I Think I Can," and the Closing General Session will offer, "When You're Up to Your Neck in Hot Water, Just Chill Out."

Participants can choose three of the 10 workshops to attend; all participants will view the opening, luncheon and closing sessions. Prompt registration -- a $10 check must be received by Oct. 15 -- is urged so that people can reserve and participate in the workshops of their choice.

To obtain a registration form or for more information, please contact Sarah Ann Sasser in the Carteret County center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, (919) 728-8430.
