with Holladay Medal Dr. John Vandenbergh, professor
in the Department of Zoology
in the College of Agriculture and
Life Sciences, was one of five N.C.
State University faculty members to receive the 2002 Alexander Quarles
Holladay Medal. The medal, presented by the university Board of Trustees,
is given in recognition of outstanding careers at the university. Vandenbergh,
in his 25 years in the College, has made significant contributions to
teaching, research and service. He is a founding member of the W. M.
Keck Center for Behavioral Biology, and he led the efforts to construct
the Biological Resources Facility and the Yates Mill Historic Site. Joining Vandenbergh as honorees
were Dr. Ellis B. Cowling, Dr. John Riddle, Dr. Robert Davis and Dr.
George H. Wahl. The Holladay Medal is named for Col. Alexander Quarles
Holladay, the universitys first president. Terri
