Walkway of Champions

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Alumni and Friends Society has launched a new bricks and mortar campaign for the College — literally! It’s the Walkway of Champions, a sidewalk full of engraved commemorative bricks laid in front of Patterson Hall at N.C. State. Wesley Wyatt, field crops technology 1979; Norris Tolson, crop science 1962; and Dr. Dennis Osborne, crop science, conservation and soil science 1972, are the Society Advisory Board members who are leading the campaign.

The bricks became available for purchase in late spring. That’s when the College began offering 3,300 engraved bricks — 3,000 red at $75 each and 300 white at $150 each. Donors inscribe the bricks with three lines commemorating a specified name, degree and graduation date, or approved text variations.

Alumni and friends of the College, other N.C. State graduates, graduating students, parents and grandparents of students and organizations that support the College are invited to purchase and personalize the bricks.

“The Walkway of Champions will honor our greatest assets — graduates, students and friends of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences,” Tolson said. “Proceeds from the brick sales will help us grow and enhance this college’s ability to continue major contributions to the future of N.C. State and America.”

Proceeds will benefit scholarships in the College, as well as Alumni and Friends activities. For order forms, please call 919-515-7222, e-mail calsalum@ncsu.edu, or go online to www.cals.ncsu.edu/alumni/brick.html.
