In June, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences alumni Dr. Douglas Worsham and Dr. Robert Eplee were each honored with a Legacy Award at the 9th International World Congress on Parasitic Plants, in Charlottesville, Va. The International Parasitic Plant Society sponsors the congress.

Worsham and Eplee both received Ph.D. degrees from the College's Department of Crop Science. Worsham of Scottville retired from the College after 40 years as a crop science/weed science faculty member. Eplee of Whiteville served in the Animal and Plant Health and Inspection Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he was director of the USDA's witchweed control methods and development laboratory for 35 years.

Worsham was honored for his contributions to witchweed research and training of students, and Eplee was recognized for more than three decades of work that enhanced understanding of the biology, control and quarantine of witchweed.
