N.C. State University’s new Turf Pavilion was dedicated Aug. 12 in plaque-unveiling ceremonies at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory. The new 40-by-60-foot covered shelter overlooks the Lake Wheeler turf field laboratory research plots.

Dr. Johnny Wynne, CALS dean, who hosted the event, credited the North Carolina Sod Producer’s Association and the strong support of its members for their roles in building the pavilion, where faculty, students and visitors can assemble for research discussions and other turf-related business.

Dr. Tom Rufty, Center for Turfgrass Environmental Research and Education director, worked with Bob Erickson, director of Golf and Turf Management, to facilitate this project.
