FFA award
Two North Carolinians were among the most recent winners of the National FFA Organization’s highest honorary degree, the Honorary American FFA Degree.
Dr. James L. Oblinger, dean of N.C. State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Larry Wooten, president of the North Carolina Farm Bureau Federation and alumnus of the College, received the awards at the 74th National FFA Convention held last fall in Louisville, Ky.
According to FFA, the award is given to those who go beyond the valuable daily contributions to make an extraordinary long-term differences in the lives of youth by advancing agricultural education and the FFA. Award winners are chosen by the FFA Board of Directors and receive a certificate, a medal and have their names permanently recorded.

is a national organization of 457,278 members preparing for leadership
and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
In North Carolina, FFA programs are coordinated in the College of Agriculture
and Life Sciences by the
Department of Agricultural and Extension Education.
