Dr. Edwin Jones of North Carolina State University has become chairman of the national Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN). Jones, of Cary, was named chair-elect during EDEN’s annual meeting this past November in Charleston, S.C.

Organized in 1995, EDEN has members from 44 states. It is designed to help Cooperative Extension agents and specialists at the nation’s land-grant and sea-grant universities carry out effective educational programs related to disaster preparedness and recovery.

As North Carolina Cooperative Extension’s program leader for community development, Jones provides leadership for educational efforts aimed at helping individuals, families, businesses and communities prepare for and recover from disasters.

To find out more about EDEN or to access its comprehensive database of disaster-related resources, visit its Web site at http://www.agctr.lsu.edu/eden/.
