Nelson named to statistics society

Dr. Larry A. Nelson of Raleigh is one of 37 scientists worldwide recently elected to membership in the International Statistical Institute.

Nelson is coordinator of international programs for N.C. State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

ISI members are elected based on distinguished contributions to the development or application of statistical methods, to the administration of statistical services, or to the development and improvement of statistical education. ISI, established in 1885, is one of the world’s oldest scientific societies and has about 2,000 elected members from more than 133 countries. Its headquarters are in The Hague, the Netherlands.
