Heatwole named editor-in-chief of ICB journal

Dr. Harold Heatwole is the new editor-in-chief of Oxford Journals' Integrative and Comparative Biology (ICB), formerly American Zoologist.

He replaces outgoing editor-in-chief Dr. John Edwards of the University of Washington.

Heatwole, a professor in the College's Department of Zoology, celebrated his appointment recently with a reception at the publication's on-campus office in the newly refurbished David Clark Laboratory building.

Nancy Cochran, recently retired student services manager and program associate in the College's Zoology Department, will be an assistant editor for the journal.

ICB is noted for integrating the field's varying disciplines. Oxford Journals, a division of Oxford University press, recently announced a partnership with the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology to publish ICB.

ICB includes peer-reviewed symposia that provide current syntheses of subjects in biology by the field's top scientists. It also publishes book reviews, reports and special bulletins.
