Gregory Allen Queen of Maiden is the first recipient of the Thomas Quay Wildlife and Natural Resources Experiential Learning Award. Named for Dr. Thomas Quay, an N.C. State alumnus who taught for 32 years in the Department of Zoology, the award was established to provide financial assistance to students majoring in environmental sciences and natural resources at the university. Queen is a sophomore majoring in fisheries and wildlife science.

Colleagues, friends and former students established the endowment to honor Quay and to commemorate his lifelong enthusiasm for wildlife, ornithology and teaching.
