Gamma Sigma Delta
initiates three alumni,
one honorary member

At its 49th annual initiation ceremony and awards banquet, the N. C. State University chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society of agriculture, initiated three alumni members and one honorary member, all of whom have shown distinguished service and leadership. Carl V. Tart, H. Julian Philpott Jr. and Erica Upton Peterson were honored as alumni initiates, while Marc Basnight was named the 2003 honorary member at the April 28 ceremonies at Talley Student Center in Raleigh.
Tart is assistant commissioner of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences. Philpott is secretary and general counsel as well as state legislative director of the N.C. Farm Bureau Inc. and its affiliated companies. Peterson is executive vice president of the N.C. Agribusiness Council.

Basnight is president pro tem of the North Carolina Senate.
