In March, N.C. Sen. Clark Jenkins received an Outstanding Service Award from the Northeast FFA Regional officers. Jenkins, who represents Pitt, Martin and Edgecombe counties, was honored for his dedication and commitment to agriculture and the FFA. In accepting the award, Jenkins said he was proud of his agricultural heritage and that he was confident that eastern North Carolina would remain a key player in agriculture because of its vision in shifting into new areas such as biodiesel production, biotechnology and agricultural tourism.
