Legislators honored with
Distinguished Service Awards

Three members of the General Assembly have been recognized with Distinguished Service Awards from the North Carolina Agricultural Foundation Inc.

The awards were presented to Rep. Nurham Warwick, Rep. Ronnie Smith and Sen. Tony Rand at a joint luncheon of the N.C. Tobacco Foundation Inc. and the N.C. Agricultural Foundation Inc. in Raleigh Oct. 30. The three were recognized for their friendship and support of N.C. State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Rand is chairman of the Rules and Operations Committee and vice chair of the Appropriations/Base Budget and Information Technology committees. He served in the Senate from 1981 to 1988 and from 1994 to the present.

Smith is chairman of the House’s Public Utilities Committee and is on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education. He served as a member of the state House from 1991 to 1993 and from 1997 until today. Warwick is chairman of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and vice chairman of the Agriculture Committee.

The N.C. Agricultural Foundation supports programs of N.C. State’s College of Agriculture and Life
Sciences.
