4-H retiree, volunteer receives international honor

Carolyn High, who retired in 2001 as a Forsyth County 4-H youth development agent, was named the 2003-2004 International Sertoman of the Year at the 2004 International Sertoma Conference in Kansas City recently. This is the first time in the 48-year history of the award that a woman has been named the recipient. High was nominated, along with 10 others from international Sertoma regions of Mexico, the United States and Canada. High is active in the Northwest District 4-H Agents' Association and is coordinator of the annual Sertoma Deaf Camp held at the Sertoma 4-H Educational Center. She also serves as a liaison between North Carolina 4-H Youth Development and the N.C. Sertoma organization for the Sertoma 4-H Educational Center. She is active in her community as a prenatal volunteer at Forsyth County Hospital and a leader in her local Sertoma Club. - Natalie Hampton
