Two alumni named to NCDA&CS posts

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced in October that James Archer "Jimmy" Johnson Jr. and Joe Reardon have taken new positions in the department. Johnson is the new environmental and natural resources specialist, and Reardon is the new food administrator. Both are alumni of the NCSU College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Johnson has served for seven years as chairman of the N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission. A native of Washington, he holds a bachelor's degree in biological and agricultural engineering from N.C. State. He has served as a member of citizen advisory panels for the College's Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and Department of Food Science.

Reardon of Willow Springs is a 23-year veteran of NCDA&CS, serving in the department's Meat and Poultry Inspection Service and Food and Drug Protection Division and as its special programs coordinator. He replaces the recently retired Don Howell as food administrator. Reardon holds a bachelor's degree in food science from N.C. State.
