Arboretum has new director

Dr. Dennis J. Werner is the new director of the JC Raulston Arboretum, the eight-acre working research and teaching garden maintained by the Department of Horticultural Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He began his duties as director on Dec. 1.

Werner joined N.C. State in 1979 as an assistant professor of horticultural science, rising to the rank of professor in 1988. He also served as the Horticultural Science Graduate Program director for 11 years.

He earned a bachelor's degree in horticulture from Pennsylvania State University and master's and doctoral degrees in horticulture from Michigan State University.
