Ward named head of Food Science


Donn R. Ward

Dr. Donn R. Ward, professor of food science, on Sept. 1 became head of the Department of Food Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Ward joined the College in 1988 as an associate professor and Extension specialist in the Department of Food Science, rising to the rank of professor in 1993. He also was coordinator of the Graduate Food Safety minor. Since 2004, Ward has served as interim head of the department. Before coming to N.C. State, Ward was an assistant professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an associate professor at Texas A&M University.

Ward earned a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in food science and technology from Virginia Tech and a doctoral degree in food science and technology from Texas A&M.
