Fabulous food. N.C. State ice cream. Face painting. The (food) science of beer-making. These were all part of the howling good time enjoyed by alumni, faculty, students and friends at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ annual tailgate, Aug. 31.
A showcase of College of Agriculture and Life Sciences programs was on view at the 2013 North Carolina State Fair. Prominent in the fair’s Agriculture Today tent was a CALS exhibit focused on accessibility in agriculture, with displays from the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Research Shop, the North Carolina AgrAbility Partnership and Extension therapeutic horticulture programs.
The Expo showcases full-time jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities, but it is also a chance to educate students about organizations and opportunities that may be available in the future.
N.C. State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will host its annual Tailgate on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Dorton Arena at the N.C. State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The event will be an end of summer party, held from 9 a.m. to noon before the 12:30 p.m. kickoff of the N.C. State vs. Louisiana Tech football game.

A pre-game pep rally featuring the Wolfpack mascots and band. An abundance of great food. Fun and fellowship with CALS alumni, friends and faculty. Generous scoops of Howling Cow ice cream. And an array of College exhibits with everything from face-painting to reptile encounters. It was all there Sept. 15 as the Wolfpack faithful filled Dorton Arena on the N.C. State Fairgrounds at the 21st annual College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Tailgate.

“Make a Life, Make a Living, Make a Difference,” the 2012 CALS Career Expo, takes place 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. That’s where alumni can connect their organizations with CALS students, recent graduates, fellow alumni and industry colleagues.
“Almanac Gardener,” featuring North Carolina Cooperative Extension home horticulture experts, continues its season on WUNC-TV through September.
