Biochemistry grad honored at West Virginia University

Samantha Smith, a 2011 North Carolina State University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and chemistry, recently received the Patricia “Pat” Fedeles Award for Compassion in Physical Diagnosis given by the West Virginia University School of Medicine.

New Agricultural Institute director named

Dr. Elizabeth Wilson, professor in the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education at N.C. State University, has been named director of the university’s Agricultural Institute and assistant director of academic programs for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

2012-2013 CALS Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Alumni honored

Tailgate 2012 celebrates the tradition

A pre-game pep rally featuring the Wolfpack mascots and band. An abundance of great food. Fun and fellowship with CALS alumni, friends and faculty. Generous scoops of Howling Cow ice cream. And an array of College exhibits with everything from face-painting to reptile encounters. It was all there Sept. 15 as the Wolfpack faithful filled Dorton Arena on the N.C. State Fairgrounds at the 21st annual College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Tailgate.

Stewart completes Food Systems Leadership Institute program

When Joshua Bledsoe entered high school as a freshman in 1987, he was surprised to find agricultural education listed as his elective at Surry Central High School in Dobson. Soon this N.C. FFA leader will join the national organization as chief operating officer.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has announced Dr. Charles W. Stuber and Jessie Thomas “Tommy” Bunn as its 2012-2013 Distinguished Alumni. The two were honored at the College’s annual Alumni Awards Reception Nov. 2, when the College’s Outstanding Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni for 2012 were also announced.
