10% Campaign hosts sign-up at Raleigh market
Date posted: August 26, 2010
The 10% Campaign was on hand at the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market Wednesday, Aug. 25, to sign up new participants. The campaign, sponsored by the Center for Environmental Farming Systems, N.C. Cooperative Extension and Golden LEAF, encourages North Carolina consumers to spend 10 percent of their food dollars on local sources. Since the campaign website opened in July, nearly 1,000 participants have signed up and reported spending more than $60,000 on local food. Local food coordinators in all the state’s county Extension centers oversee the campaigns in their counties, working especially with businesses that want to spend 10 percent of their food dollars locally. Sign up today at www.nc10percent.com, and help push the 10% Campaign to 1,000 participants!
