Two College of Agriculture and Life Sciences faculty members, Dr. John Cavanagh and Dr. Josip Simunovic, were among N.C. State University faculty members honored by the university Office of Technology Transfer for innovation and entrepreneurship for 2012.
Dr. Josip Simunovic, research associate professor in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences, has been honored with the Marvin A. Tung Achievement Award given by the Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists.
North Carolina is the nation’s top sweetpotato producer. The state’s growers produce 600 million pounds of sweetpotatoes annually, nearly half the sweetpotatoes produced in the U.S. In 2010, sweetpotatoes were worth more than $173 million to the state’s growers.
