Nearly 100 people came together Oct. 30 to welcome the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ new dean, Dr. Richard Linton, to northeastern North Carolina and to share their ideas on the College’s future.
The third day of Dean Richard Linton’s cross-state trek took him to eastern North Carolina for a tour of the Center for Environmental Farming Systems in Goldsboro, bookended by stops in Clinton and Wallace.
This Summer 2012 Perspectives commemorates a historic year for N.C. State University and its College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. It is the 125th anniversary of the founding of the university and the 150th anniversary of the passage of the Morrill Act which established federal mandates for the funding of land-grant institutions in each state to provide education in the agriculture and the mechanic arts.
Dr. Richard Linton, a nationally recognized food-safety authority who serves as professor and chair of the Department of Food Science and Technology at The Ohio State University, has been named dean of North Carolina State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, effective Sept. 15.
