Pricing for Web database access
$250.00 per year for a database fully searchable with the InMagic search engine. Subscriptions run from January-December of the calendar year, and provide full access to any data included in the file at the beginning of the calendar year, as well as data added during that subscription year. Thus, as new material is added at intervals throughout the year, subscribers will have access to the full, growing, file, during the calendar year for which they have paid.

Terms for Web database access

Coverage: The Web database will begin with 2002-2003 entries, with frequent new additions on a regular basis. There are also plans to add the backfile of Tobacco Abstracts.

Access to the database is by password only. Each subscription provides one password. Passwords will be supplied after payment is received. Passwords for Web database subscriptions which have not been renewed by the end of the calendar year to which they apply will no longer be valid.

Indexing:

  • All fields are fully searchable both as terms (phrases) and as individual words
  • All authors are indexed for all years
  • Full subject indexing 2002 and 2003 entries
  • Limited subject indexing for entries 2004-present, since all fields are searchable, both as terms (phrases) and as individual words.

Tobacco Abstracts was published in a print format for the Inaugural Volume/Volume 1, 1956-1957, to Volume 41, 2001. Issue numbering varies; and some issues appear as combined numbers within a volume.
Author and subject indexes are included in all volumes.

TERMS:

  • Prepayment is required for all other purchasers, regardless of location.
  • Purchase orders: Accepted, but not required.
  • Currency: Payment is accepted only in U.S. currency or money order, or by a check drawn on an American bank. University regulations do not allow acceptance of foreign currency or checks. No exceptions to this policy can be made. Important: Overseas purchasers paying through a bank should instruct the bank to include the following information with payment:
  • title(s) of publication(s) being ordered
  • number of copies wanteds
  • correct shipping address.

Checks received without this information will be returned to the bank for instructions, delaying the order.

  • Bank Charges: We cannot pay bank charges for currency conversion. Purchasers experiencing problems with currency conversion may find it helpful to work with an international serials vendor. Some Web sites listing serials vendors are:
  • Credit Cards: We regret that we cannot accept credit cards.
  • Invoices: We do not automatically invoice previous purchasers for the next year’s volume. Invoices are sent upon request by Fax (U.S. only) or postal service, or emailed as a Microsoft Word attachment. If you require an invoice, or wish to reserve the most recent volume, please contact us.
  • Cancellations & Refunds: Cancellations are accepted at any time during the year. However, we regret that we cannot allow refunds.
  • Discounts: We regret that we cannot provide agency discounts or discounts for multiple copies.
  • Subscription duration: Subscriptions run from January-December, only, and are accepted at any time during that year
  • Print/CD Back Issues: Requests for partial years or single print issues are treated as orders for back issues. Print back issues and complete volumes to volume 16 for 1972 are available in many cases. Inquire for availability and price. Volume 46 and 47 CDs for 2002 and 2003 are available.
  • Claims for Missing or Damaged Print/CD Issues: Replacements will be provided at no charge for non-receipt (provided sufficient delivery time has elapsed), and for issues damaged in transit. NOTE: Please allow four months for overseas surface mail before claiming.

PHOTOCOPY/DOCUMENT DELIVERY SERVICES: The Tobacco Literature Service may be able to provide copies of some documents cited in Tobacco Abstracts. Contact us for availability and pricing.

Note: Subscribers who previously purchased 2002 or 2003 CDs, which will be included in the Web site database, will, nonetheless, be charged for online access to cover production costs. However, new material covering a given time period, which did not appear in print or CD previously, will be available on the Web as we continue to add to the database.
