4-H teens learn from community service and more. Through 4-H, more than 187,000 young people in North Carolina learn new skills and serve their communities each year.

University educators, based at N.C. State University, at N.C. A&T State University and in county extension centers throughout the state, work hand-in-hand with adult and youth volunteers to provide young people with learn-by-doing opportunities through 4-H clubs, special interest programs, summer camps, school enrichment programs and after-school child care.

4-H's club pledge -- "I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to greater service and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world" -- reflects the organization's commitment to the total development of individuals.
