New education programs prepare undergraduate and graduate student for careers in biotechnology.Biotechnology holds the promise of vast benefits, including cures for previously untreatable diseases, new and steady sources of food for malnourished people and methods to sustain the environment and economy.

N.C. State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences conducts research programs that are on the leading edge of biotechnological advances, and we educate students and others about biotechnology's benefits and risks.

Our research experts address topics in a range of areas where biotechnology comes into play, including genomic sciences, bioengineered crops, food biotechnology, bioinformatics, ecobiotechnology and animal science and genetics.

N.C. State University has become the first in the Research Triangle to offer master's and doctoral degrees in genomic sciences. And undergraduates now have the opportunity to pursue a new universitywide minor in biotechnology. A key part of these programs is a required ethics course. Together, these activities complement and strengthen North Carolina's important biotechnology industry.
