The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service is the outreach arm of N.C. State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Through partnerships with county governments, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and N.C. A&T State University, Cooperative Extension provides learning opportunities that help people attain economic prosperity, become better environmental stewards and enhance their quality of life. Educational programs focus on five areas:
To carry out its programs, Cooperative Extension has centers and field faculty serving all 100 counties and the Cherokee Reservation. Trained volunteers and a local and state network of advisers help extend the organization's reach and ensure that programs reflect the highest-priority needs of citizens and communities across the state.
