The College encourages a plentiful, safe and nutritious food supply. Here in the United States, we spend less than 11 percent of our expendable income on food, making our food supply the most affordable in the world. N.C. State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences conducts teaching, research and extension programs aimed at ensuring that the food supply remains plentiful, safe and nutritious.

Our teaching programs prepare undergraduates and graduate students to work in the food industry, and our research programs explore new ways to make safer, more affordable food while protecting the environment.

Through Cooperative Extension programs, food production and service industries gain information to ensure the safety of the foods they create and serve, and individuals learn how to eat right, prepare foods safely and stretch their food dollar.
