Media contact: New College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Web Site Opens 'Windows' to Giving In conjunction with North Carolina State University's announcement today (Sept. 23, 2005) of a $1 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign, the N.C. State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences launched its “Windows of Opportunity” campaign Web site. Under the umbrella of the university's “Achieve!” campaign, “Windows of Opportunity” is the unique fundraising effort of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Visitors to the campaign's Web site – http://windowsofopportunity.ncsu.edu http:// windowsofopportunity.ncsu.edu – will find it easier than ever to support the college. By clicking on any of nine “windows” on the site's home page, supporters can choose from a broad variety of funding areas, from student scholarships and endowed professorships to county extension program gifts and naming opportunities for new buildings and facilities. An extensive searchable database enables visitors to tailor their support to any of the college's funds. The site also outlines ways of making a gift to the college and features a secure page for online credit card donations. “The generosity of our friends and donors enables the college to lead the way in academic, extension and cutting-edge research programs, and at the same time, continue our support of traditional agriculture and evolving enterprises,” said Dean Johnny Wynne of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. “This campaign will have far greater impact than we can possibly imagine.” During the silent phase of the university's “Achieve!” campaign, which began in July 2001, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences raised more than $170 million. By the campaign's end in June 2008, the College aims to raise $275 million in private funds to further its 21 st century land-grant mission of teaching, research, extension and public service. Funds raised through the “Windows of Opportunity” campaign will bolster a number of different areas in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, including student scholarships and fellowships; faculty development funds; research support; capital projects; and program development funding and endowment for Cooperative Extension, Centers of Excellence, the JC Raulston Arboretum, FFA and others. Achieve! The Campaign for NC State is a historic, $1 billion university-wide fundraising effort that will ensure the university's ability to transform lives for generations to come through innovative teaching, research, extension and public service- Suzanne Standard, 919.513.3126 or suzanne_standard@ncsu.edu - OTHER NEWS RESOURCES To receive our releases before they are posted here or sent out in hard copy, subscribe to our e-mail news service.
