Horse Training Clinic is Jan. 13-14 in Raleigh

North Carolina State University will provide a two-day horse-training clinic Jan. 13-14 in Raleigh. The early registration deadline for the clinic is Dec. 13.

The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Horse Husbandry Program in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State and the North Carolina Horse Council are providing the clinic, while it is sponsored by Land O' Lakes Purina Feed LLC.

The clinic, which will be held at the James B. Hunt Jr. Horse Complex at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, will feature well-known horse trainers and equestrians Lynn Palm of Ocala, Florida, and Van Hargis of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Palm and Hargis will provide instruction designed to help riders better control their horses, teach advanced maneuvers and suggest methods of dealing with problem horses.

Both spectators and riders may attend the clinic, with fees ranging from a $10 daily fee for youth spectators to $125 per training session for a rider and horse. Riders must be at least 19 years old.

The fee structure and registration information are available on line at http://www.cals.ncsu.edu/an_sci/extension/horse/SC_Clinic/SCmain.htm .
