operation of FFA career development events.
|
|

material if your experience with FFA and 4-H is limited.

National FFA organization web site.
|
|
The
Main Lesson:
Read these articles
|
- The study guide for this week is this:
- What is a cde?
- How many different cde categories are there in
North Carolina?
- What do you suppose a cde superintendent does?
- Where can I go for information on North Carolina
cde's? (Use your own state for this if you are a DE student)
- What is the educational value of cde's?
- The
National FFA has a webpage dedicated to Career Development Events. It
is a good source of information about CDE's. This portion of the National
FFA Career Development events website has specific information
about national events.
- The National FFA's State
Guide
to FFA Activities is a little-known document, but it may have some
forms and information beneficial to an agriculture teacher (especially
if you have lost that form sent to you by state or national FFA
regarding the upcoming national FFA convention).
- Visit the North
Carolina Chapter Guide to State FFA Activities for specific
information on career development events. Make certain that you are
familiar with the following:
- CDE dress codes.
- FFA policies related to CDE's
- Procedures for revising a state FFA event.
- The information one might expect to find on a
North Carolina CDE rules page (such as forestry, floriculture).
- Take
a look at this research paper by Barry Croom, Gary Moore and Jim
Armbruster if you'd like to know why students participate in CDE's.
