Week of February 25: Managing The FFA Program
The Essential Question
It is anticipated that we will answer the following question during the course of this lesson:
How does the agricultural education program manage FFA Program in its daily operations?

Objectives
In this learning session, you will:
Demonstrate the importance of an FFA program of activities.

Introduction

The FFA program should be an essential part of any agricultural education program. The FFA is a natural avenue for making the community aware of the work inside the agricultural education program. Students often have a great deal of interest in FFA programs and services, and are motivated to participate in agricultural education beyond the classroom walls as a result.

How can the FFA program be managed so that it contributes to the overall goals of the agricultural education program without becoming the sole purpose for the program?

Resources

Rather than bore you with a discourse on the need for program planning, I'd like for you to visit these links and read what the best professionals in agricultural education have written about FFA program planning:

FFA's Program Planning Guide
The Agriculture Teacher's POA - This is an excellent document!

I know that this isn't much to read this week, but no matter how much you beg - I am not assigning more reading for you. The de facto pre-requisite course for AEE 424 was AEE 303 (or AEE 503), so many of you know the basics of the program of activities. If you are unfamiliar with the program of activities in an FFA chapter, then visit this link for an explanation:

National Chapter Award Handbook - Has information on Program of Activities
