commonly refered to as The
Council,
provides
national leadership for public school agricultural education. Visit
them
to learn more about some of the current national iniatives in
agricultural education.
What is the pay for an agriculture teacher? Salaries
and benfits are shown at this DPI site.
Remember these salaries are for 10 months and most ag teachers are
employed
for 12 months. So multiply the monthly salary shown by 12. Remember,
this
is the state minimum. Many schools pay10-20% more.

Agriculture teachers belong to the National Association of Agricultural
Educators. Visit this site to learn more about the NAAE.
Have you heard about Ag in the Classroom? The USDA Ag in the Classroom site is
somewhat spartan. Visits to the NewYork
or New Hampshire
Ag in the Classroom sites may be more informative. The American Farm Bureau has
additional information.
In 1988 the National Research Council released a
study titled "Understanding
Agriculture: New Directions for Education." While you are not
expected the read the entire document, you should read the executive
summary and other sections that might interest you. This document did
have an impact on the direction of agricultural education.
