Gary Moore Gary Moore is a Professor of Agriculture and Extension Education at North Carolina State University. He serves as Director of Graduate Programs and teaches courses that focus on the use of instructional technology in agricultural and extension education. He is a member of the NCSU Academy of Outstanding Teachers. Dr. Moore is a Fellow in the American Association for Agricultural Education and is a Teaching Fellow in the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA). In 2003 he received the Russell Guin Award, which is presented to the outstanding Agricultural Educator in America. In 1996 he received the Ensminger-Interstate Distinguished Teacher Award presented by NACTA. One college teacher of agriculture is chosen annually to receive this award. He recently completed a term as President of the Agricultural Education Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education. He is the past president of the American Vocational Education Research Association. He served as Historian for the American Association for Agricultural Education from 1987-2007 and is currently President-elect of the organization. Dr. Moore has published 120 journal articles and presented 139 papers at professional conferences. He has also authored three textbooks. He has twice been the opening session speaker at the Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists. In 2003 he was the keynote speaker at an international agricultural education conference in the Netherlands. He delivered the Blue Ribbon address at the 2005 NACTA Conference and was the Distinguished Lecturer at the 2005 American Association for Agricultural Education conference. However, his most popular presentation is titled “The History and Evolution of the Outhouse.” Dr. Moore’s research interests are in teaching
effectiveness
and historical and philosophical foundations of agriculture and
extension
education. He received a B.S. in Agriculture Education from Tarleton
State
University (Texas A&M system), a M.S. in Agriculture Education from
the
Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Agriculture Education from the
Ohio State
University. Gary is a widower and has two children, Micah and
Carolyn. Micah is an independent film producer and Carolyn is a 5th
grade school teacher. Gary grew up on a working cattle ranch in central
Texas. |
