Course
Objectives
The
course will focus on the organization and functioning of formal and nonformal
agricultural education in selected states and nations (Africa, Asia, Europe,
the Middle East, North America, and Latin America). The countries
and/or states studied will vary each tmie the course is taught.
Specific
objectives include:
1)
Compare and contrast the administrative structure of school based and community
based agricultural education program in selected states and nations.
2)
Compare and contrast the delivery of school based and community based agricultural
education programs in selected states and nations.
3)
Compare and contrast the curriculum/programming of school based and community
based agricultural education programs in selected states and nations.
4)
Compare and contrast the facilities of school based and community based
agricultural education programs in selected states and nations.
5)
Compare and contrast the accountability systems of school based and community
based agricultural education programs in selected sates and nations.
6)
Analyze the political, social and cultural factors that influence school
based and community based agricultural education programs in selected states
and nations.
7)
Examine the relationship between education and the structure of inequalities
(in terms of class, ethnicity, gender, race, and region).
8)
Examine the relationship between education and economic and political stability/change.
9)
Critically evaluate education reform movements in various states and nations.
10)
Determine how various states and nations prepare agriculture teachers and
extension agents.
