Read Chapter 4 "Adult Learning Principles" and Appendix C, D and E in Effective Adult Learning. [If you have the Brookfield book, Understanding and Facilitating Adult Education, read Chapter 5 "Andragogy: Alternative Implications and Applications." 
What is Andragogy?  (You should read this document carefully and mark it up.)
Andragogy and pedagogy are discussed by Marcia L. Conner at the Ageless Learner web site.
A good way to gain an insight in andragogy is to learn more about the "Apostle of Andragogy" - Malcom Knowles.
What are the Seven Characteristics of Highly Effective Adult Learning Programs (by Dorothy D. Billington)? Are they based on principles of adult learning?
"Teaching Adults: Is It Different?" by Susan Imel summarizes the research in this area. 
O'Brien asks "What are the Principles of Adult Learning?" and then proceeds to answer the question. 
Read "Principles of Adult Learning" by Stephen Lieb.
John Goodlad has developed six principles of adult learning.
Dewar has developed a list of adult learning principles from various sources. Find and read them on his Adult Learning Online web site.

Assignments:
For Worksheet 5, prepare and explain a list of ten adult learning principles that you believe in strongly. These principles should be based on your philosophy of adult education, knowledge of andragogy, readings, etc. This assignment is to be submitted to Dr. Kistler. Check the Assignment List for due dates.
