In this lesson you will be
introduced to the part of curriculum development that most people are
familiar with.....selecting the content and objectives to be taught in
a course. This process requires the use of another advisory committee
that should be made up of teachers or/and industry personnel who are
experts in the field of study. Decision making strategies appropriate
for dealing with a lot of information should be used when working with
this committee. This lesson introduces you to many of these strategies
as well as the need to consider limiting factors such as resources and
facilities. Again we will look at the model North Carolina follows but
please feel free to post "the way it is done" in your state on our
discussion site on Vista WebCT. |

Homework

Using the same project you addressed in
Phase I and Phase II, determine who you would invite to serve on the
advisory committee to determine the curriculum content. Make a list
of these folks and a short explanation of why they were chosen. Then
decide which content determination strategy you would use in working
with this group to have them determine the curriculum content for the
course. Then write up a short synopsis of how you would have them meet
and work together integrating this decision making strategy. Explain
any constraints that would have to be considered by this committee.
