Assignments:

  • What agent or agriculture teacher has not developed a display? Some of us seem to have a natural flair for creation of such exhibits. Others, like me, seem to struggle. Yet, the public perception of our program can at times reflect of our programs can at times be reflective of our exhibits. This lesson will provide background information on exhibit design and construction.
  • Read chapter eight in the text to learn the principles of graphic design basics.
  • Continue text reading with chapter nine. This section will assist you in exhibit design and production.
  • Posters take on many forms: T-shirts, billboards, caps, etc. Complete the text reading for this week with chapter 10. Learners will discover means of effectively developing and displaying posters.
  • This last minute lesson idea on poster effectiveness was taught at Porter College in an art class. Teachers and agents could use a similar format to teach poster design to learners.
  • Tired of lugging unwieldy displays. Perhaps an Absolutely portable display could help!
  • Exhibits can be pricey! These pre-owned exhibits may meet an agricultural or Extension programs budget.
  • A quick search yielded over 1500 companies that design exhibits. Spend some similar web time. Consider if exhibit design and construction might best be left to professions (Does the cost prohibit such a move?)
Learning Activities:
Computer for learning activity section
Computer depicting learning activity Send an email and describe exhibits you have either seen or constructed. Share tips for success. Yes, I ask you to share since we can all benefit from each other's ideas. Here in Pennsylvania, teachers tend to get quite competitive with fair exhibits.
