This week you will learn about the program evaluation standards and how to apply those in program evaluation. The program evaluation standards are helpful guidelines for us to conduct practical, useful, accurate and ethical evaluations. Learning and application of these guidelines are important for us to conduct sound evaluations.

Upon completion of this class, students should be able to:

  1. Describe evaluation standards.

  2. Apply ethical and other standards in evaluation.

Required Instructional Activities

  1. View the Power Point presentation. This PP presentation will help you to understand class materials.

  2. View this summary of evaluation standards.

  3. Print off the crossword puzzle and complete with evaluation terms. (You don't need to submit this, however, it will be a valuable learning activity.)

Required Assignments

All items, unless otherwise noted, are due by 12:00 noon on Monday following the week of the class.

  1. Go to the class WebCT Vista and post your comment or observation about the topic we discuss in this week.  Please read comments and questions posted by the class mates and share your views and comments. Be sure to read all postings by your classmates.

  2. You are expected to be familiar with the course syllabus, assignments and their due dates, course orientation materials, and fellow classmates.  If you have not done so already, you need to go back and read each of these items.

  3. First reading assignment due by January 24: Open this first reading assignment, complete and e-mail as an attachment to the instructor (jay_jayaratne@ncsu.edu). Remember to type your name and save your completed assignment before you e-mail it.
