Class 8: Career and Technical Education Interview

Introduction: Now that we have learned a lot of the basics surrounding career and technical education, it is time to focus on the role and responsibilities of the CTE teacher.  Listed among your assignments for this course is to interview a CTE teacher using the list of questions provided.

Learning
Activities:

This week there will be no lesson content.  I am giving you the time you would normally spend on the class work to complete the interview.  You actually have until the week of Thanksgiving to complete the interview and submit the responses to the questions, but I wanted to give you four weeks to schedule the interview and complete the assignment.

You should ask the teachers the questions listed in this lesson.  You may ask additional questions if you wish, but these questions should serve as the basis of your interview.

Teacher Interview Questions:
  1. Why did you become a teacher?
  2. What do you find most rewarding about teaching?
  3. What part of teaching i sleast rewarding to you?
  4. Why is career and technical education (and your specific program area) important to your school and community?
  5. What is the most important trait a teacher needs in order to be successful?  Why?
  6. What is the role of student organizations in your program?
  7. What is the role of work-based learning, or SAE, in your program?
  8. What are two major issues that face CTE (or agricultural education) in the future?
