Omicron Tau Theta
(OTT) is the graduate honor society for the profession of vocational, technical, workforce, and career education. More information about the OTT chapter at NC State will be availble soon.


Professional Organizations

Many times graduate students find it helpful to join professional organizations during school. These memberships offer a great deal of professional development, networking, and often access to various academic journals. Below is a list of some of the most popular professional organizations with a brief description and link to their homepage. Graduate students are not expected to join all of these organizations, however some may offer various benefits to individual students.

American Association of Agricultural Educators (AAAE)
The organization for collegiate professors and graduate students of agricultural education. AAAE is dedicated to studying, applying, and promoting the teaching and learning processes in agriculture. Student membership is $20.

Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE)
ACTE is the largest national education association dedicated to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for successful careers. Student membership is currently FREE.

Association of Career and Technical Education Research (ACTER)

ACTER is a professional association for scholars and others with research interests in the relationship between education and work. Through participation in the ACTER members have the opportunity to collaborate on research projects of vital interest to the profession, present research findings to national audiences, and receive recognition for service and scholarship in career and technical education. Student membership is $10.

Association for Communication Excellence (ACE)
The Association for Communication Excellence (ACE) is an international association of communicators, educators and information technologists. It offers professional development and networking for individuals who extend knowledge about agriculture, natural resources and life and human sciences.

Association for International Agricultural and Extension Education (AIAEE)
The AIAEE seeks to serve as a worldwide catalyst in bringing the collective expertise of agricultural and Extension educators to bear on the problems of human resource and agricultural development.

Association of Leadership Educators (ALE)
Organization for collegiate professors and students of leadership education. The mission of the Association of Leadership Educators, Inc. is to strengthen and sustain the expertise of professional leadership educators. Student membership is $50.

Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP)
Epsilon Sigma Phi is dedicated to fostering standards of excellence in the Extension System and developing the Extension profession and professional.

North American College Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA)
Advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning in agricultural, environmental, natural, and life sciences. Graduate student membership $25.

National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE)
NAAE seeks to advance agricultural education and promote the professional interests and growth of agriculture teachers as well as recruit and prepare students who have a desire to teach agriculture. Focus areas include advocacy for agricultural education, professional development for agricultural education,and recruitment and retention of current ag educators. Student membership is $10.

National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA)
NAE4-HA offers youth development professionals, the best in professional development, and inclusive and supportive network, and intergration of scholarship, research, and practice.
