Objectives: After completing this lesson, students will be able to:
    Identify group teaching techniques used in agricultural education classes.
    Describe the setting required for using group teaching techniques effectively.
    Explain the role of verbal and non-verbal cues to effective group teaching.
    Develop learning activities that utilize group teaching techniques.

Take the Group Teaching Techniques pretest.  
Reading Assignment: The Ohio State University has developed an excellent handbook on teaching. While it was designed for university faculty, the principles involved are applicable to high school settings. The Chapter 5 of the handbook contains information on group teaching techniques and is titled, Modes of Learning. Lecture and discussion, two common group teaching techniques are found on pp. 39-49 in the handbook. Additional information on lecture is found on pp. 56-57 in the chapter.

Assignments:

Prepare a demonstration plan that includes the following components: (1) List of materials and equipment; (2) Interest approach; (3) General overview; (4) Steps and Key Points; (5) Plans for Student Practice. Any agricultural topic that involves a hands-on (psychomotor) skill will be appropriate.
