techniques used in agricultural education classes. Describe the setting
required for using group teaching techniques effectively.
Explain the role of
verbal and non-verbal cues to effective group teaching. Develop learning activities
that utilize group teaching techniques.

Take the Group Teaching Techniques
pretest. Reading Assignment: The
Ohio State University has developed an excellent handbook on teaching.
While
it was designed for university faculty, the principles involved are
applicable
to high school settings. The Chapter 5 of the handbook contains
information
on group teaching techniques and is titled, Modes of Learning. The
handbook
is found at the following url (This is in pdf format and requires

Lecture and discussion, two common group teaching techniques are found
on
pp. 39-49 in the handbook. Additional information on lecture is found
on
pp. 56-57 in the chapter.

Prepare a demonstration plan that includes the following components: (1) List of materials and equipment; (2) Interest approach; (3) General overview; (4) Steps and Key Points; (5) Plans for Student Practice. Any agricultural topic that involves a hands-on (psychomotor) skill will be appropriate. |
