Biographical
Information
Dr. Jacklyn Bruce was born and raised in Colorado. She attended Colorado State University
where she received degrees in Political Science and Extension
Education. While completing her Masters Degree, she took a position
with the Colorado State Cooperative Extension Service and was a 4-H
Youth Development agent on the Western Slope of Colorado, before she
met and married her husband and returned with him to Texas.
Dr.
Bruce attended Texas
A&M University, where she completed
a PhD in Agricultural Education with emphases in Leadership Development
and Extension Education. While at TAMU she was a member of the
Department of Agricultural Education’s Leadership Team, and traveled
all over the southern United States delivering
leadership development workshops to various youth and adult
organizations.
Upon
graduating from TAMU in May 2003, Dr. Bruce took a position with The
Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Agricultural and
Extension Education as an Assistant Professor of Youth and Adult
Leadership Development. In this position, Dr. Bruce provides leadership
for a variety of state level leadership development programming for the
Pennsylvania 4-H program, maintains a
rigorous research program in the area of transfer of leadership
training and skills and an outreach program on working with teens for Pennsylvania’s
4-H Youth Development Extension Agents.
In her
down time, Dr. Bruce is committed to her husband Danny, their daughter
Ainslee Mae, and the family's Jack Russell Terriers: Oscar, Emma, and
Woody. She also enjoys reading, playing jazz trumpet and piano, and
volunteering her time with her college alumni groups.
