Minor in Extension Education
The minor in Extension Education is open to all baccalaureate students. The minor is especially appropriate for students enrolled in agricultural majors and interested in careers in Cooperative Extension. Students completing a minor in Extension Education will become familiar with the organization, structure, and mission of Cooperative Extension, the planning and delivery of nonformal educational programs, communication media and technology used in extension programs, and accountability systems used in extension. The minor requires a minimum of 16 credit hours, with 10 credit hours from a required core and 6 credit hours from a list of advised electives. A C- is the minimum grade required for all courses counting toward the minor.

Applying for the Minor

Applications and requirements for the minor may be obtained in 13 Ricks Hall or by contacting the departmental Student Services Assistant at 919-515-2241.
Procedures:
1. Students applying for a minor should submit the application listing the courses required for completion of the minor at least one semester prior to graduation.
2. The undergraduate coordinator will verify that all requirements have been met and recommend approval by the department head.
3. The signed minor application/program of work will be submitted to the Academic Programs Office in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences by the department head.
