CUMULATIVE RECORD: 4-H SMALL ANIMALS/PETS
Objective:
To develop leadership talents and work towards achieving the broad
objectives of character and effective citizenship
To learn about a specific species of animals - its characteristics and
natural history
To acquire the knowledge of the responsibilities of small animal ownership
in the home and community
To demonstrate sound small animal care and management practices, including
feeding, care, handling grooming and breeding
To keep a complete record of all costs and practices used
To develop an understanding of the values of scientific research and
its influence upon small animals
To share experiences with others by leading workshops, field trips,
and small discussion groups on the project
Suggested Ideas for Participation:
Assume the complete responsibility for the care and training of at
least one pet.
Present demonstrations on the health, grooming, feeding and early training
requirements of dogs and other pets.
Become involved in showing and judging.
Visit local veterinarians to learn more about the care and treatment
of dogs.

Manuals that describe how to care for fish, snakes, turtles and tortoises,
frogs, and toads, salamanders, lizards, birds, hamsters, gerblis, mice,
rats,guinea pigs, domestic rabbits, cats and dogs.
