1997 NC Junior Beef Round-Up

M. C. Claeys and S. B. Rogers

The 1997 Junior Beef Round-up is quickly approaching. This year the junior educational event will be held May 16-18 in Winston-Salem at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds. Mark your calendar and make plans now to attend the activities.

The information that follows includes the agenda, rules for the various educational events and activities, entry forms and hotel headquarters information.

Read the information carefully as the committee has made a few changes compared to previous years. Entry deadline is May 1.

A new addition to the 1997 JBRU is the "JBRU BEEF POSTER CONTEST." The poster contest is open to any North Carolina youth between the ages of 5 and 21 interested in the promotion of beef. Please take a moment to read over the enclosed rules for the new event and encourage all youth to participate. In addition if you plan to have a team in the Stockman's Bowl, please let us know via e-mail as the approximate number of youth that will be participating. We would appreciate this information by May 1 as well.

The Comfort Inn on Akron Drive will serve as the hotel headquarters. Please make your reservations early. This year the JBRU is on the same weekend as Wake Forest graduation and the Spring Dixie Classic Fair. Rooms will be hard to find. Contact the Comfort Inn by April 1 at 1-800-228-5150.

NOTE: Rules and regulations with entry forms are being mailed to the county agents.
