Introduction

Youth involved in the North Carolina Dairy Youth Program learn many important life skills as they increase their knowledge of dairy farming and the dairy industry.  They participate in various educational activities including dairy cattle type judging and evaluation, dairy quiz bowl contests, dairy poster contests, demonstrations, presentations, cumulative records projects, dairy cattle fitting and showmanship contests, junior dairy shows, and educational retreats.

Funding

North Carolina Dairy Youth Foundation

The North Carolina Dairy Youth Foundation (NCDYF) was officially established on March 2, 1994. The mission of this foundation is to develop and provide broad-based financial support for dairy youth programs and activities in North Carolina.  This foundation operates under the auspices of the North Carolina Dairy Foundation, Inc. which is a non-profit 501-(C-3) corporation.  A special NCDYF Endowment Account has been created in the North Carolina Dairy Foundation, Inc. Income, but not the principal from this endowment is used to provide funding for dairy youth activities and programs.
