Direct benefit payments to individuals represent approximately 58 percent of the total federal budget outlays. Most of the tax dollars we pay are redistributed to other individuals in the form of a government check. So $.58 of every dollar we pay in taxes is put back into the economy in the pocket of someone else, or back into many of our pockets. Yes, back into our pockets either directly or indirectly. Don’t get yourselves in an uproar yet. Give me a little time to illustrate. Please remember, I do not wish to pay any more taxes than I have to either. I do not remember ever sending the state or federal government any voluntary donations.
