The zebra butterfly (Heliconius charitonius: family Heliconidae) is common in subtropical regions of the New World.   Adults are known for their habit of "roosting" communally at night.   This stamp is part of a series on tropical butterflies issued December 4, 1978 by the British Virgin Islands.
